Audit log overview and how to request them.

Overview

Stack Overflow can provide audit log exports for Stack Internal customers on request. These exports are intended to help customers review compliance-relevant activity within their site, including registered actions of Stack Internal services.

We collect audit logs through a dedicated audit event stream stored in our internal data lake. When you request an export, we generate a customer-scoped file for the requested date range. This file includes all reviewed, registered, and approved event types.

What we provide

When you request an audit log, we provide:

  • A tenant-scoped audit log export for a requested time range.
  • Audit records that include standard event details such as event type, timestamp, tenant identifier, actor, affected target resources, outcome, contextual request/session information where available, and event-specific metadata.
  • Audit file in the JSON format.

Request audit logs

We manually generate logs on request. To request a copy of your logs, open a support ticket or email support@stackoverflow.com.
